Client Reflections on the Process
The following are accounts drawn from client correspondence and post-matter feedback. Names are used with permission; some details have been generalised at client request.
"I approached Naga Pact from Spain with a complex multi-class filing. The team was thorough in explaining the Nice classification options, conducted a proper similarity search first, and kept me informed at each stage. The office action that arose was handled clearly and without additional stress on my side."
"As our startup grew, we needed someone to take stock of what we actually owned and what gaps existed. Naga Pact conducted a clean audit, mapped out our renewal schedule, and flagged two marks that were approaching expiry we hadn't been tracking. The clarity that came from that exercise was genuinely useful."
"We needed a utility model filing in Thailand as part of a broader Southeast Asia strategy. The process of translating our Japanese technical specification and structuring claims for the Thai system was handled well. Communication was prompt and the timeline they provided was accurate."
"Registering a mark in Thailand from abroad felt daunting. Naga Pact made the process manageable. They handled the power of attorney requirements, the translation of documents, and the DIP correspondence entirely. I received updates at meaningful points rather than being flooded with emails."
"As in-house counsel managing Thai IP alongside several other jurisdictions, I need a local agent I can rely on without micromanaging. Naga Pact's approach is professional and their knowledge of Thai examination practice is evident. Deadlines are met and correspondence is clear."
"Our product required a petty patent filing to protect certain functional features before a Thai distribution agreement. Naga Pact worked within our timeline, coordinated the technical translation effectively, and the claims drafting reflected genuine engagement with the product rather than generic language."
Notable Situations We Have Navigated
Examples drawn from our practice history, shared with client permission and with identifying details modified where requested.
Similarity Conflict Resolution
Retail goods sector — European applicant.
A European fashion brand encountered a similarity citation during examination against a Thai-registered mark in an overlapping class. Rather than file a generic response, we conducted a detailed comparative analysis of the marks — reviewing visual, phonetic, and conceptual distinctions — and prepared a well-evidenced written submission to the examiner.
The examiner accepted the response and withdrew the objection. The mark proceeded to publication and was subsequently registered without further issue. The client noted that the response was substantially more detailed than what they had received from agents in other jurisdictions.
Patent Claim Restructuring
Agricultural technology — Thai SME applicant.
A domestic applicant came to us with a draft patent specification that had been previously rejected for lack of claim clarity and an insufficiently defined inventive concept. The original draft had been prepared without specialist assistance. We reviewed the underlying invention, engaged with the technical team, and restructured the claim hierarchy from independent through dependent claims.
A prior art search was conducted before resubmission to check for unaddressed conflicts. The resubmitted application was accepted into formal examination. The applicant commented that the revised specification reflected their invention far more accurately than what they had first submitted.
Portfolio Consolidation
F&B group — multi-brand, Bangkok-based.
A mid-sized food and beverage group had accumulated marks across eleven brands over a decade, handled by several different agents. There was no coherent renewal calendar, some marks had lapsed, and class coverage was inconsistent across brands. We conducted a full audit across the portfolio, produced a consolidated status report, and developed a remediation plan prioritising the most commercially active marks.
Where revival was possible for lapsed marks, filings were prepared. A structured renewal calendar was produced for ongoing management. The client moved their entire Thai IP portfolio to us following the audit.
Shorter Notes from Clients
"The clearance search was thorough and gave us confidence before we committed to the filing. The team flagged two potential conflicts we hadn't identified ourselves, and we were able to adjust our class strategy accordingly."
"Working with Bangkok-based counsel from Singapore is usually straightforward on paper but often inconsistent in practice. Naga Pact communicates reliably and their written advice is well-reasoned. I have referred colleagues."
"We were a small business unsure whether formal IP registration was worth the effort. Naga Pact took time to explain the practical reasons for registration in our specific industry before we signed anything. That level of candour is appreciated."
"We filed a PCT application and needed Thai national phase entry handled by someone who understands both the technical subject matter and the local procedure. Naga Pact handled both. No unexpected surprises and the timeline was as described."
What Every Client Can Expect
Regardless of the size or complexity of a matter, our process and communication standards remain consistent. These are the commitments that run through every client engagement at Naga Pact.
-
A named professional on your file
One contact who understands your matter from start to completion. Not a rotating team.
-
Fees stated before engagement
Professional fees and government fees are provided in writing before any work begins. No invoicing surprises.
-
Substantive updates only
We contact you when there is something meaningful to report. No courtesy emails filling time.
-
Clear, plain-language reporting
All correspondence is written to be understood, not to demonstrate complexity. Legal jargon is explained when necessary.
Realistic Timelines
We explain what is within our control — preparation, filing, response times — and what depends on the DIP examination queue. Clients are not given faster estimates than the system can deliver.
Documentation You Can Keep
Every engagement produces a client-side file with copies of all filed documents, official receipts, and correspondence. Your records belong to you.
Bilingual Communication
Full service in both Thai and English. Foreign applicants receive English correspondence throughout; Thai clients may work in their preferred language.
